I am potty training right now and it is not so fun. It does make it nice to have this easy potty around... since she is scared of the big toilet.

You can stop pretending the black hairs growing on the back of your calves don't bother you this summer when you pull on those summer maternity shorts.

A new product promises to make the impossible happen: The Razor Reach lets pregnant women shave their own legs.

An extension arm that looks like it requires substantially more coordination than my fumbling pregnant fingers had, it also promises "maximum control when shaving" when connected to your non-electric standard razor. There's a 12-inch extension for $14.99 or an 18-inch one for $18.99 (razor not included).

Personally, I gave up on trying to balance in the shower after realizing I hadn't done that much complicated maneuvering since the days of sex in the shower in college.

I used the "sit on the side of the tub" trick when I was pregnant. I kept a cup to pour over my legs to keep them wet and just coated them in soap (these days I use conditioner or Coochy Cream).

You can ask your partner, but a bit of a warning: Remember how many nicks you got the first time you shaved your legs as a teenager? This is his first time shaving a leg. Be prepared for cut-up knees.

Better yet, tell him thanks but NO thanks.

When all else fails, you can simply hide in the house. Unless you're tied to rocking the sweat-covered miserable look?

Trusting Tuesday

Welcome to day 1 of our new and improved blog site.

We are always looking for comments and ways to improve on what we are doing.

We are attempting to have daily posts- Sunday through Friday- but obviously being a mommy and wife comes first- so that might not always happen. So come back, follow us, and check your RSS feeds to see when we update.

This will be the basis of our Tuesday posts.

During pregnancy we are expected to trust those who are caring for us. Our Doctors or midwives or other care providers. We trust our nurses, our doulas, the anesthesiologist, and the lab tech who comes to draw our blood.

Each week we will try to discuss these relationships and how we can build trust with those around us. How to interview a provider. How to decide where to give birth. How to know the decisions you are making during your pregnancy are right for you and your family. We will talk about how we come to trust ourselves and our own bodies to prepare for motherhood.

Blog Makeover

Laborlooks is in the process of a bloggy make over. We wanted our blog to be full of birth stories about moms who wore laborlooks gowns, but it is hard to track all those new moms down and make sure they send us a birth story....

So we are starting something different for us. We will have daily topics starting in February. Most days, Sunday through Friday. We want our blog to be an addition to our gowns. We want to have interaction and sponsor giveaways (not just gowns!).

We want to highlight other companies that are doing what they can to make pregnant women and new moms feel and be their best. We want to add links and buttons to help advertise on other blogs.

Really, I just want to have a whole lot more fun with the blog!

Did we have any Christmas babies?

A laborlooks mom just celebrated her daughters 1st birthday, right before Christmas.

I was honored to help her through her pregnancy and labor.

Do you remember that first Christmas with your little one? Was it this year? Will it be next year?

This was my 2nd Christmas with my laborlooks baby and she really figured out how to open presents. It is quite the accomplishment.

However,

I think she feels her greatest accomplishment is learning how to open a hershey's kiss.
